Largest Global Engineering and PM Company signed MOU for investment in Qeshm Infrastructure projects
On Monday March 7th 2016, symposium of the consortium of Qeshm Investment and Development Co. (QIDCO) and Orieco Consulting Co. (Japan) jointly organized with Meinhardt holdings, the largest global engineering and PM company from Singapore by participation of the senior level directors and representatives of BFI holdings (Switzerland), Nomura Research Institute (Japan), Dentons (France), and by participation of the CEO and Chairman of the Qeshm Free-Area organization (QFA) in Roodaki hall of the Milad tower in Tehran
According to the PR and International affairs of the QFA, Hamidreza Momeni, in the opening remarks of this event, expressed his greetings to the foreign investors who are interested to invest in Qeshm Island. He presented regarding thepotentials and opportunities of this region, and added: for the participation of the foreign investors in Qeshm Free-area, we are preparing the base and infrastructure in order to ease their investment. He also added that for the development of the Qeshm Island, our organization is doing the utmost efforts to facilitate and secure the foreign investments.
In the second part of this event, Dr. Farhad Taghizadeh-Hesary, President of the Orieco consulting Co. (a consulting management company based in Tokyo with a subsidiary branch in QFA) and the senior advisor to the CEO of the Qeshm Investment and Development Co. presented about the various available projects for investments in QFA.
Dr. Taghizadeh-Hesary, presented about the ongoing project of international financial center that planned to be built in Qeshm. He mentioned that in the post JCPOA era, free-zone could be appropriate place for foreign financial institutions, such as banks, insurance companies, investment companies and so on, who want to provide financial services to Iranian free-zones and to the mainland. Free-zones provide several incentives such as tax exception, no visa requirements, deregulated environment, and could be the first choice for foreign financial institution. This was the concept behind this project in Qeshm. According to Dr. Taghizadeh, the road map of the development of this center is under development with collaboration of the Japanese reputed company, Nomura research institute.
In next session, Misters, Dr. Seyed Abbas Hosseini, Admiral Mohammad Hossein Malekzadegan, Eng. Mohammad Javad Dehghani, Dr. Seyed Gholamreza Shirazeian, Dr. Kamal Beiramian, Eng. Mohammad Reza Motevaselian, introduced various projects in Qeshm Island including Airport city, Persian Gulf general maritime network, Qeshm Sea-city, Bunkering and cruising and storage facilities for oil and derivatives.
In next part, senior director and representative of the CEO of the Meinhardt Co. delivered his speech. Meinhardt is one of the largest global engineering and PM co. established in 1955 in Australia and from 1974 moved to Singapore. It has more than 4000 professional staff in its global offices and undertakesprojects worth US$20 billion annually. First of all the Senior Director Mr Janos Baranyai expressed his group’s interest for the construction, engineering and financing participation in Qeshm projects, then he presented and introduced various projects that this group done for Airport, road and freeway, port, hotel, building, hospital and stadium in all around the world.
The concluding remark of this event, done by Dr. Reza Bagherinezhad, Board member and the CEO of the Qeshm Investment and Development Co. He mentioned that during the past several months, his company prepared and developed the investment packages for various projects in Qeshm free-area. In order to reach to this aim, his group has done several discussions and meetings with world class companies such as Nomura research institute of Japan or Dentons from France. He mentioned: What you see today is results of several months endeavor of our team, hopefully today by signing thememorandum of understanding, Meinhardt will be also added to the list of contractors of the QFA organization.
Following by the Questions and Answers session and face to face meetings among senior directors of QFA, QIDCO, ORIECO and Meinhardt, last part of this event, was for signing the Memorandum of Understanding for facilitating the investment of Meinhardt in various projects of Qeshm, including Persian Gulf Bridge, bunkering and cruising, fuel storagefacilities and Persian Gulf general maritime network.
